Rhea County Wins 74-29: Move on the Cumberland on December 4

December 2018

Evensville, TN —  The Rhea County Lady Eagles beat Sale Creek in their home opener 74-29.  Lady Eagles moved a 20-12 first quarter led up to 43-15 on strength of 23-3 second quarter and never looked back in winning 74-29.  Coach Gill was able to get lots of looks for reserves in this one.  Mallory Hampton and Haley Cameron each tallied 12 points and Maddie Taylor joined them with 11 points as double digit scorers.  Eight players dented the score column in this one.  Also scoring were: Maddie Smith 9, Kaitlyn Taylor 8, Emma Gentry 8, Shelby Davis 5, Skye Tran 4 and Macy Welch with 3 points.

Coach Gill was pleased with the play of reserves and is now focused on a very good Cumberland County team that the Lady Eagles will face on the road they continue on a very demanding early non-district schedule.  Cumberland game is scheduled for Tuesday, December 4th with 7:00 pm tip-off eastern time.

Cumberland comes in 3-2, with losses to Maryville and Clarkrange and wins over Roane County, Cleveland and York.  Lincoln Memorial University signee, Gracie Dishman, Miss Basketball Finalist in 2018, with over 2000 career points will lead the way for the Lady Jets.  Lauren Tabor will be the energizer on the Lady Jet defense.  Dishman scored 34 points vs Clarkrange and 29 points vs Maryville this year.
