Employees from La-Z-Boy’s largest manufacturing facility located in Dayton, Tennessee, proved comfort is more than a tagline, at their latest “Build-A-Chair” event at the Ronald McDonald House in Chattanooga (RMHC).

The event allowed families to not only see how a recliner is built, but also take part in the production of a classic “Lancer” recliner.

McDonald’s of Dayton provided the evening meal as part of the entire “Feeding and Comforting Families” experience.

“We love the comfort La-Z-Boy provides.  The families that are staying here, the children and parents got to help build the chair and understand the comfort that La-Z-Boy provides to Ronald McDonald House Charities,” stated Tiffany Cobb Commons who leads development efforts at RMHC.

Seeing families smile and have fun makes it a special experience for La-Z-Boy volunteers says Janet Earnhardt, HR Director of La-Z-Boy in Dayton.

“La-Z-Boy is the corporate sponsor for Ronald McDonald House Charities, so we really like to take care of our local houses.  This house does so much for the people who are in need at the time that they really, really need it,” insists Earnhardt.

“Once you get into the house, you feel all the services that these families are getting, and it makes you really want to support this particular house.”

Tiffany says their relationship with La-Z-Boy is a natural fit.

“With Dayton’s La-Z-Boy manufacturing facility in our own back yard, we’ve worked with them for at least 5 years locally and they’ve come and done many “Build-A-Chair” events.  Just to work with that class of people has been wonderful,” declares Commons.

Since 1990, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga has met the needs of families in medical crisis with the help of hundreds of volunteers and partnerships with the medical community, relationships with respected companies and a community of generous donors.

As the official furniture provider of Ronald McDonald House Charities, La-Z-Boy is committed to seeing families have a comfortable “home away from home” while their children receive much needed care.

At La-Z-Boy, comfort is more than a tagline, it’s a commitment.
