Holcomb and Goins Win Watts Bar Fishing Event

Walker Valley Duo Wins:  Rhea County High Anglers Place Three in Top 11

Spring City, TN —  The fishing tandem of Kolby Holcomb and Anthony Goins won the Watts Bar Fishing Event held by Southeast/Tennessee BASS Nation High School/Junior High Association.  The winning anglers brought in five fish weighing 18.12 pounds.  Hunter Canova and John Thompson from Lenior City landed five fish weighing in at 15.27 pounds for second place.  Rhea County’s Hunter Presley and Bryar Goins teamed up to win third place with five fish weighing in at 14.26 pounds.  Hunter Richardson and Zack Long from Campbell County High School finished fourth with five fish weighing in at 12.95 pounds.  They also landed the big fish, weighing in at 5.01 pounds.

There were a total of 120 fisherman registered in the event and Rhea County had 12 entrants.  Three of those finished in the top eleven and received scholarship money.

After two events on the years, Chris Metcalf and Christian Wright hold first place in the points race with 187 points.  Micah Bryant and Chris Keeble of Sequoyah High School stand in second with a point total of 181.  Tyan Massengale and Brandon Bates of Soddy Daisy High School are third in standings with 175 points.  Hunter Presley and Bryar Goins are at 14th place in point standings with 139 points.

Rhea County High School Anglers are next scheduled to compete on November 10th, at Chickamauga- Grasshopper Creek Ramp.
