If decorating with lights for Christmas is the time when you let all your creativity reign then Graysville’s Holiday Lighting Contest is just for you!
Whether you’re outdoor holiday and home décor features hundreds or thousands of lights, Santa Claus, Snowmen, Stars, Nativity Scenes or even Rudolph in all his red nosed glory, be sure to go to city hall and complete an entry form to be part of the contest presented by the City of Graysville.
Judging will be conducted between December 2nd and 8th by several local volunteers. Winners will be announced on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at our annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. An announcement release will include names and addresses of winners so everyone may drive by and enjoy seeing the biggest and brightest holiday themes in Graysville.
Winners will be named in several categories:
- Clark Griswold Award – Excessive use of outdoor lighting and decorations.
- Reason for the Season Award – Religious Holiday Display
- Creative Award – Most creative
- Debatable Inflatable – Is it too much or just right? It’s debatable, 8 or more inflatables required for this one.
One home will be judged best overall (regardless of category) will be selected to win an award.
City leaders will be burying a time capsule at City Hall for the city’s centennial celebration at 5 pm. The container will stay buried until the city’s sesquicentennial on Dec. 9, 2117.
