Golden Eagles came out swinging and never let up. Let’s hope this is a sign of things to come for the remainder of the season.
It's been a long-time coming. Their effort was first class all the way. They started out strong and they finished strong.Coach Phillips - Rhea County Golden Eagles
Coming off a tough district loss to Cumberland County the previous night, the Golden Eagles came out swinging with a 14-0 run to start the game. The scrappy Eagle defense held the Owls to only 4 pts, while the Eagle offense posted 20 pts in the 1st quarter of play.

Ooltewah went on an 8-2 point run, but was plagued by two technical fouls. Dimitrius Patterson regained momentum with a huge 3 pointer, and Lee Hill put the finishing touch on a great half of play with a strong layup in traffic. Eagles take a 40-18 lead to the locker room at half time.
Despite the Owls best efforts to contain the Eagles with a back-court press, the Eagles continued to find daylight and made them pay with multiple fast-breaks. Noel and Dimitrius Patterson put on a display of acrobatics as they converted lay-ups in heavy traffic. Rhea County used the clock and their heads to secure the victory, 70-50.
This was a much needed win and hopefully a sign of things to come as Rhea County enters the backstretch of the season. The next 4 games are district match ups and will all be at home. Next game is Friday, January, 17th.
