Get Ready for the NACA National Tourney at Fort Bluff Camp, February 26-28 and March 5-8!!
We welcome Rhea County residents to enjoy the Nationally ranked teams that will be competing in the upcoming events.Dave Sekura - NACA Executive Director
Since 1980 the NACA (National Association of Christian Athletes) has hosted national high school events for all the major sports with teams participating from 20-25 states annually. Fort Bluff Camp, located on Dayton Mountain, is the home for NACA National Tournaments. Fort Bluff Camp is a Rhea County camp and retreat center which features breathtaking views and first-class facilities.
The event offers not only the competing prep teams in the nation, but also a welcome boost to the local economy. Local residents typically know when a tournament is underway due to all the buses and vans arriving with hundreds of parents and fans filling up hotels, restaurants and stores.
This year the signature NACA basketball event will feature at least four USA Today Super 25 ranked teams. The rosters are filled with Division 1 college signees that will be playing in the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac 12 as well as many mid-major conferences. Through the years many of the NACA alums have gone on to the NBA and WNBA including Tyreke Evans (NBA Rookie of the Year) and Angel McCoughtry (2012 Olympic Gold Medalist).
The event dates this year are February 26-28 and March 5-8. The boys teams to watch are Prime Prep, Dallas, TX, and Our Savior, Centereach NY. The girls teams to watch are New Hope, Thomasville, NC, and Riverdale Baptist, Upper Marlboro, MD. Games are open to the public and will be played at Fort Bluff Camp as well as in gyms around the county.
