Lineman Zach McCarthy heads north to start new football program at Indiana Wesleyan

Evensville, TN —  Senior Lineman Zach McCarthy signed a scholarship offer from Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday and heads north to a school just beginning football program.  The Wildcats are located about an hour northeast of Indianappolis Indiana.

Zach is a good student with 3.30 GPA and will be majoring in social studies and hopes some day to return to Rhea County and teach and coach.  Zach wants to give back to community and help others.  He really appreciated the great influence his coaches have made on his life.

Zach choose Indiana Wesleyan after a visit in February.  He was very impressed by the coaching staff at Indiana Wesleyan.

Zach said, “The coaches at Indiana Wesleyan keep touch with me since my visit and called often.”

“I loved the campus, with the family atmosphere and focus on Christian values.”

Rhea County High School head coach Mark Pemberton said, He is one of the seniors that has helped us break the school record with 42 wins over the last four years.  He is going to make Indiana Wesleyan a great football players.  He will have a year to develop in weight room in red shirt year.”

“I am proud of his grades.  Defensively he can in and did a good job for us.  He is an aggressive kid.  When he got locked on to somebody, he was going to get some movement.”
