Friday’s game marks only the third meeting between the two teams, with the series tied at 1-1.
Here’s a look at the Warriors:
Marion County High School
The Warriors have been a power in Class 2A for the last three years, making three straight state title game appearances, but coming up short each time.
Players to Watch Out For:
Marion County Warriors
Jacob Saylors (#8, senior, corner)
Grayson Lawson (#55, senior, linebacker)
Brett Nelson (#21, sophomore, running back)
Rhea County Golden Eagles
Jacob Stringfellow (#51, sophomore, offensive guard)
Doug White (#30, senior, “Eagle” back)
Jay Graham (#44, senior, linebacker)
While they hold a record of 3-4, same as Rhea County, they have had some tight losses to some heavyweights in the area such as a 41-42 loss to Sequatchie County and a 28-37 setback to Tyner.
Rhea County, as many already know, has endured one of the most brutal strecthes of prep football seen in Evensville, finding wins over McMinn County, Walker Valley, and Lenoir City with close loses to Bradley Central and Cleveland.
With the return of the “Power-T” offense and the season winding its way to the playoffs, I look for the Eagles to take care of business and secure a 4-4 record heading into a key region game with Soddy-Daisy next week.
Brian’s pick: Rhea County 35, Marion County 14
Other Games to Watch:
Bradley Central @ Soddy-Daisy: Bradley by 7
Walker Valley @ Red Bank: Red Bank by 10
Lenoir City @ Stone Memorial: Lenoir City by 3
