Undefeated Eagles (11-0) host undefeated Owls (11-0) in 2nd Round of 2014 TSSAA Football Playoffs

When:  7pm EST – Friday, November 14
Where:
 Bill Horton Field, Evensville, TN
Forecast:  28° F (dress warm)

If we get our fans rolling, and they get loud... it will be a great atmosphere for us. It makes it hard on the other team... especially their spread offense. They call everything from the line of scrimmage. So we need them loud and proud out here Friday night.
Mark Pemberton - Head Coach Golden Eagles

Out of the five undefeated Class 5A teams in this year’s TSSAA playoff brackets, three of them landed in Rhea County’s quadrant.  Oak Ridge (11-0) received the number one seed in Quadrant 2, leaving TSSAA a difficult decision in seeding the two remaining undefeateds – Rhea County (11-0) and Ooltewah (11-0).

“It actually came down to a complete tie,” says Eagle’s head coach Mark Pemberton.  “The TSSAA tossed a coin at two o’clock in the morning to decide who the number two seed and the number three seed was, and we won the toss.”

With home field advantage on the line, the coin flip could play a significant role in the destiny of the 2014 Golden Eagles.  But Ooltewah has performed well on the road thus far.

“They’re a good football team, 11-0,” says Pemberton.  “They’ve got good athletes, execute offensively and defensively real well.  And this time of year, that’s all you’re gonna see.”

Pemberton says strong defense and ball control will be key for the Eagles to win.

“The main thing is to get the ball and keep it – then get some stops.  You’re not gonna stop them all the time.  But if you can get some stops you’re winning the battle.”

Eagle Nation Loud and Proud

“We need our fans ‘Loud and Proud’ Friday night,” said Pemberton.

“Our fans can make a huge difference.  If we get our fans rolling, and they get loud… it will be a great atmosphere for us.  It makes it hard on the other team… especially their spread offense.  They call everything from the line of scrimmage. So we need them loud and proud out here Friday night.”
