Dayton City School has had a summer reading camp through the Read to be Ready summer grant program. Over 40 students signed up in upcoming grades 1,2, and 3.
During camp students participated in multiple reading activities daily. There were many books read to the children and many books read individually by students.
The grant also provided books for the children to keep. The group went on field trips to the Screen Door Cafe, Clyde W. Roddy Library, Pendergrass Park, and the Tennessee Aquarium.
Students ended camp with a water fun day outside at the school.
Altogether, there was 16 days of camp involving 40 students, 13 teachers, and 6 assistants.
