Dayton City Football falls 28-12 to Midway

Midway, TN — The Dayton City football team lost their opening game of the season 28-12 on the road Tuesday night.

Midway scored their first touchdown with 3:04 left in first quarter and scored a second touchdown and two-point conversion to go up 14-0 with 1:31 left in the half. In the second half the Sweatbee offense came to life with two touchdowns, but Midway also scored 14 points to give the final 28-12 score.

Addison Wilson scored the first touchdown of the season for Dayton City School and Jagger Hickman scored the second touchdown near the end of the game.  Hickman also had an interception near the end of the game.

“I am very proud of the kids.  I am proud of their efforts.  We fought hard the whole game.   Addison played his heart out.  Jagger played good.  Jayden Gibson played good.  Scruggs played good.  It was a good opening game,” said coach Paige Hughes.

Dayton City School brought a good group of fans and cheerleaders.

Earlier in the day, Dayton City held an enthusiastic pep rally with the entire school in attendance.  There were cheers, games and lot of support shown for the football team.
