Dayton City girls and boys win at Sale Creek

Sale Creek, TN — Dayton City School basketball won both games at Sale Creek on Tuesday night. The girls won 46-21 in the opening varsity contest. Both teams opened slowly but it was Lady Bees with 9-3 lead in first quarter behind 6 first quarter points by Ashlen McClendon. Lady Panthers fought back in second to stay close but still lost quarter 10-7 to trail 19-10 at the half. Lady Bees cranked up offense in second half with two 14 point quarters on their way to 46-21 win. Sam Derlak had 10 second half points on her way to game high 17 points and Ashlen Mcclendon had 10 first half points on her way to 15 point night. Aesha Preston had 8 of her 9 points in the second half.
Sweatbees 41 Sale Creek 16
The Sweatbees and Panthers began very slowly and with end of first quarter approaching, score was 1-1. Bees tallied six late points to take a 7-1 lead at end of one. Second quarter was very competitive for the Panthers as they stayed close with 9-10 score in quarter to trail 17-10. After halftime the Bees came out with lots of energy and hits the boards and ran the break well as they won quarter 16-2 to push lead to 33-12. Sale Creek was not able to dent the lead and final was 41-16. Top three scorers were 10-9-8 points by Tyler Dupre, Levi Stumbo and Elijah Davis.
