Dayton, TN — Dayton City Basketball hosted Oakdale on Tuesday and came away with a split in the Varsity games.  The Girls began with a 29-11 win.  The Boys followed with a close 27-31 loss.

The girls began with a 29-11 win.   The DCS girls had this game in control early and though Oakdale finally got their offense going late in the game it was too little too late.  Scoring for DCS:  Keely Hickman 10, Sarah Edwards 7, Saeri Goins 4, Aesha Preston 2, Livie Sneed 2, Taylor Sutton 4.

The Boys team began slowly against a team that beat them soundly last game.  This game began like it might be another lopsided loss but then Dayton City tightened up their defense and began to find some success on the offensive end of the court too, but eventually fell 27-31 to the visiting Eagles.

The Sweat Bees offense sputtered early and they went down 12-5 early and ended up down 14-5 at quarter’s end.  In the second quarter DCS began to get some offense going, outscoring the Eagles 8-4 in the quarter to cut the lead to 18-13 at the half.

The third quarter was not kind to DCS at the visitors pushed their lead up to 26-15 by the end of the quarter. With 4:26 left in the game, it was 28-16.  From here on the Bees staged a rally to get back into the game.  A three by Wyatt Sumbo and a quick steal and basket by Carter Rekoske put the Bees close but time ran out before DCS could finish the rally and they had a very competitive 31-27 loss.

Scoring for DCS: Nick Deboer 9, Clark 6, Hickman 5, Stumbo 3, Rekoske 2,  Commins 2.

In Boys JV Action it was Oakdale 24 DCS 16. Scoring: Wyatt Stumbo 6, Kade Vincent 8, Jacob Allen 2.
