UPDATE: WATE reports the Roane County Sheriff’s Office says Wicks is now in custody.
Sheriff Mike Neal and the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department are in hot pursuit of fugitive, David Paul Wicks. Wicks and female companion, both of Rockwood, are believed to be on the run in north Rhea County around White’s Creek Bridge.
RCSD is working with Dayton Police, Spring City Police, Knox County Sheriff’s Department, and other law enforcement agencies in assisting Rockwood Police in capturing the fugitive.
Rhea County is using K9s and blood hounds while Knox County is assisting with a helicopter and K9s.
If you live in the area, you are asked to lock your doors and call 911 if you see anything suspicious.
Wicks is charged with Felony Evading, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, and Driving on Suspended or Revoked 3rd offense.
Wicks most recent run in with law enforcement occurred on July 21 around 6pm. Rockwood Police were already on the lookout for Wicks, when they were informed he had been spotted at a local Dollar General.
Rockwood PD Officer Kelly Pittman was first on the scene and after being spotted, Wicks made an exit through the backdoor of the store and jumped into a grey Chevy Truck.
As Pittman reached the truck, Wicks’ female companion started the truck and Wicks floored the accelerator as the officer opened the door. Wicks reportedly crossed five lanes of high volume traffic.
This is a developing story. This article will be updated as news becomes available.
