Beginner Line Dance Classes Start February 4th, 2016
Stomping and clapping sounds along with hoots and hollers may be heard if you’re in the vicinity of the American Legion Hall on First Ave on the nights that Boots and Roses are practicing.
Twice a week since 1993, when the club was formed, they meet and practice for their next big performance. Founded in 1993 by Mary Runyan and Randall Brown, the club, which is an alcohol and smoke-free environment, now boasts anywhere from 30-40 members of both male and female participants.
Boots and Roses performs at many local functions, the highlight being the Tennessee Strawberry Festival and their Christmas performances at area nursing homes. The club is registered as a non-profit organization. Aside from dancing, through grants and dues the club also provides bags of fruit and other care packages at Christmas time to the Rhea County Life Care in Dayton, TN and to the Brookewood nursing home in Decatur, TN.
Runyan says “It’s that time of year again”. Time to reach out to the community with a big invite to come and experience the fun for yourself. You say you can’t dance, no problem says Runyan, as the Beginners Line Dance Class is about to start.
Classes are on each Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, February 4th through March 10th. During this time you’ll enjoy lots of fun, and great exercise, while learning a new dance each week. Come on down and bring a friend if you like. Cost is $3.00 per person for each night. The first night of class, February 4th, is free to all.
We are offering you a chance at the end of the class to become a member of the group, or offering membership to those who have danced before and want to become a member once again. Don’t pass this chance up for some fun, laughter and exercise all at the same time. We will be looking for you, so come on down!
