Dayton native Andy Morgan enters last Walmart FLW Tour event atop AOY Leaderboard

Beginning the fifth and final stop of Walmart FLW Tour’s regular season on Lake Champlain (Plattsburgh, NY), Dayton native and back-to-back FLW Angler of the Year (2013-14), Andy Morgan will try to hold on to a narrow lead as he seeks his third title.

Morgan (896 points) holds a 7-point lead entering the event is reported to already have a small limit here on Day One.   Andy will need a good anchor in his bag to hold off Jeff Sprague (889 points) and Jeff Gustafson (873 points) who are nipping at his heals.

The feat would make Morgan, who his peers refer to as the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time), the third angler to capture the coveted Angler of the Year title three times.  The $100,000 check makes for some pretty good icing as well.

Rounding out the top six is Dayton native, Michael Neal, who is well within striking distance.

Neal has already pocketed over $72,000 this season with a second place finish on Pickwick Lake in early May.

Spring City’s Wesley Strader, who sits in 18th place with 776 points, doesn’t have sights on an AOY title but like Morgan and Neal, is well-positioned for a Forrest Wood Cup berth to take place in Huntsville, AL, August 4-7.
