Construction to redesign and signalize the US Hwy 27 Bypass & SR-378 intersection, or as it is known to most commuters as the north Market Street crossover is nearing closer to completion. Workers began the installation of the new traffic signals this morning.
The past several months motorist have had to accommodate the construction and traffic slowdowns. The Tennessee Department of Transportation closed the intersection back in April of this year.
TDOT announced that bids were awarded on February 10th of this year to Talley Construction Company of Rossville, Georgia.
The intersection has undergone a complete redesign and is currently be signalized. Detour signs were posted at the intersections of SR-30 and SR-378 in front of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home. SR-378 is expected to remain closed throughout the duration of the project until the new traffic signals are operational.
Aside from the new traffic signal, there will be additional turning lanes from Hwy 27. Also, the intersection of Hwy 27 & 11th Ave is being widened and a traffic signal installed as part of this project.
The project completion date is expected to be November 15, 2017, at a cost of $1,433,870.50.
