Rhea County Fair kicks off full steam on Tuesday with opening of carnival. Several days of fun packed events to follow through Saturday, August 12, 2017.

Rhea County Fair crowns three pageant winners to kick off Fair

Evensville, TN —  The 2017 Rhea County Fair kicked off with the Fairest of the Fair pageant with three winners crowned on Saturday.  Crowned were Young Miss Bailey McCoy, Fairest of the Fair Addison Walker, and Junior Fairest of the Fair Shiann Roberts.

Two more days to drop off exhibits on Sunday, between 1 pm and 5 pm, and Monday until 6 pm.  Baked good will we entered on August 6th from 1-5.  The Fair gets hopping with opening ceremony at the flagpole on Tuesday night at 5:00 pm.  There are several events scheduled for the night and the carnival will be up and running. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are all free admission days.

Wednesday is Senior Day and Thursday features Our Fair Lady contest.  Friday and Saturday will require a admission charge.  Gate Admission $10.00 for Adults, $3.00 – Children ages 4 -12 and children  3 & Under get in for free.

Friday’s big events include the Tractor Parade(7:45 pm) and the Rodeo, which begins at 8:00 pm.

Saturday begins early for those interested with 6 am time for 4th annual 5K run.   The 5K Run will cost $25.00 for runners and $10.00 for walker if registered before Saturday.  To register go to  Rhea County Fair 5K and 1 Mile Fun Walk The day is filled with events, including barnyards babes pageant, car show, chili cook-off, horseshoe tournament, pet show, mini mud-bog, singing, and Rodeo to complete the day and Fair beginning at 8:00 pm.

This will be first annual barnyard babes pageant.  Registration begins at 10 am and pageant begins at 11 am.  Pageant will be held at stage area near concession stand.  Open to girls and boys age 10 and under.  Bring on the boots, buckles, blue jeans and bows or even barnyard animal costume.  No gate fee for contestant plus one.  No pageant dresses.

Another new event this year, scheduled for Saturday, August 12th, will the the Zucchini 500 racing event with real zucchini.  Races will occur at various times throughout the day beginning after 10 am in kids area near the Red Barn.
